Welcome to the Gunnamatta Surf Lifesaving Nippers Education Program. We look forward to seeing you and your nipper(s) at Gunnamatta Back Beach and the many Gunnamatta SLSC social events throughout the season.

Please take the time to review our nippers calendar outlining our program dates. Follow our Instagram account and website to stay up to date with news and events. From time to time, due to weather and conditions the scheduled program may incur changes which you will be notified of via email &/or text if last minute.
2024 / 2025 Nipper Season Dates
This seasons session dates start on Monday 27th December 2024 and finishes Sunday 12th January 2025. Times are scheduled to safe beach conditions, eg. low tide at Gunnamatta Beach. Please note, the first two sessions will be held at Rye Front Beach.

To renew your Childs participation in our program, please re-register by September 15.
If you have a child (sibling) who will be 7 by the 30th September and will be joining your family membership, you will need to add them to your family LSV membership (see details below on how to register with Life Saving Victoria (LSV).

All participants that wish to be part of the Nippers Education Program must:

Be a financial club member for the current season

Be 7 – 13 years of age by midnight on September 30th

Stay in designated age group, even if (their) birthday occurs during the season

Complete Swimming assessment and send to the club before 31st October prior to commencing Nipper activities in the water.
Please note, if withdrawing from the program, ensure to email nippers@gunnamattaslsc.com.au with child(ren's) name and date of birth.
Age Groups
A nipper is appointed to a particular age group each season based on their age at midnight on 30th September. For example, a member turns 12 years of age on 30th September 2024, he/she will be registered as U13 for the 2024/25 season. A member turns 7 years on 30th September 2024, he/she would be registered as U7 for the 2024/25 season.
Swimming Skill Assessments
Gunnamatta SLSC does not offer Swimming Skill Assessments as part of our Nipper program. Please print off the appropriate age group Swimming assessment form (refer link) and have your child's swimming teacher sign off your child's competencies.
If your child does not participate in swimming lessons, LSV will conduct swimming assessments with dates to be announced soon. Please refer to the LSV website for more details or click on this link to register your attendance: https://lifesavingvictoria.wufoo.com/forms/medpc450e0np9r/
All completed Swimming Assessments need to be returned by the 31st October 2024 and uploaded here:
Important information - Working with Children Check (WWCC)
All parent/guardians involved in Nippers must have a Working With Children Card (WWCC) to support the Nippers program. Please ensure you have a working with children card that is valid. If you have not yet completed your WWCC, please follow the instructions here: https://service.vic.gov.au/services/working-with-children

• Volunteer for parent roles – we ask for your support with at least one volunteer shift per Nipper during the season
• If your uniform is yet to arrive or you forgot to order your rashies, spare gear can be purchased via the club house
• Caps will be provided on the first day of Nippers
